Our Story
Silverwood Studio combines nature, design and technology to create awesomeness.
The idea for Silverwood Studio was sparked in 2015, when I discovered the world of Digital Fabrication during university. It really opened my eyes to how a design can come to life - from 2D on a screen to something physical in my hands.
I pursued this technology during and after university, and gained experience in Graphic Design, Fabrication and Manufacturing. Now, I have the knowledge and tools to create objects that make me happy, and allow me to explore new ways of creating.
It's a scary step going and putting my ideas out there into the big wide world - but a truly exciting one, I can't wait to share all these awesome products and designs with you, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
The Process
Every product and design that passes through the doors at Silverwood Studio starts with an idea, which then gets sketched up.
Once we've got the sketch looking great, it is recreated digitally, ready for the Laser Cutter. Using the Laser Cutter, we can cut and engrave different materials to turn wood and plastic into awesome products. Other materials that might pop up in our collections are stone, cardboard, paper and leather.
It's important to us to not only make very cool products, but try to reduce our waste and carbon footprint at the same time. Our wood supplies come from certified sources, are recycled, and reused as much as possible to make the most of every inch. Our Clear Cast Acrylic is made from recycled plastic, and we are also investigating ways to recycle our coloured Acrylic.
Supporting Local
While doing our best to reuse and recycle is great, that's not all we can do to support our local environment. Our aim is to also support local environmental initiatives in the form of donations from sales, to help fund the future of New Zealand,
